8Tuner 3.5.1
8Tuner modifies certain resources in your system and Finder to
change the appearance and functionality of your Mac OS 8. For
instance, you can change the Finder's suffix, enable the Keyboard
menu, change the alias styles, and add more system font choices.
Because all changes are modified directly in your system software,
the changes do not require extra system memory to function.
A Better Finder Rename
A Better Finder Rename is a contextual menu plug-in for the
Macintosh Finder that allows users to quickly rename multiple
files. A Better Finder Rename is ideally suited to Macintosh
Webmasters who need to transfer files from Windows or Unix, as
well as to other Macintosh users who deal with large numbers of
files.
A Better Finder Attributes 1.1
"A Better Finder Attributes" is a contextual menu plugin for the
Macintosh Finder, which allows users to quickly change attributes
such as creation and modification dates as well as the Finder flags
of single or multiple files or folders. Up to now changing these
attributes meant "hacking" them individually in ResEdit.
A Better Finder Select
"A Better Finder Select" is a contextual menu plugin for the
Macintosh Finder, which allows users to quickly select all files in
a folder which match a given selection criterion. The utility now
supports selection based on the name, creator and type of a files.
Action GoMac 2.0.2
Action GoMac adds a Windows-style taskbar to the bottom of your
screen, letting you navigate among active applications and launch
others from your choice of either the customizable Start menu or
the brand-new QuickLaunch area. You may now drag and drop the
icons or aliases of your favorite applications, files, or folders onto
any part of the taskbar, and the minimized versions of these icons
will appear in the QuickLaunch area.
Acrobat Reader 4.0
A reader for PDF files, a very common document format on the
Internet. Documents saved as PDF files retain all of their complex
formatting and are readable by anyone on any system (PC, Mac,
whatever) so long as they have a reader. Acrobat is a full-featured
reader and includes a plug-in for Netscape Navigator and Microsoft
Internet Explorer to automatically read PDF files on Web pages.
Agax 1.2
Agax is an expandable free Mac antivirus program. It offers both
standard virus-scanning facilities and more advanced background
protection so that you don't get infected in the first place. Agax is
very loosely based on AntiGax, the developer's first antivirus
program, which dealt with only one virus (Graphics Accelerator,
or SevenDust E).
BeHierarchic 4.0
BeHierarchic is one of the first AppleMenu enhancer. After
installing BeHierarchic, when you click in the Apple, it lets you
display submenus for each folder, folder alias or server alias
located into your Apple Menu Folder. BeHierarchic 4.0 supports
any Macintosh model running MacOS 8.0 to and including Mac OS
8.6. BeHierarchic 3.1 is still supported for old Mac models.
BugScan 1.2.3
BugScan determines whether you have the AutoStart and Graphics
Accelerator files on your hard drive. BugScan detects all files for
all strains of the AutoStart 9805 Worm current as of November
4, 1998, as well as the Graphics Accelerator Extension (GAX).
BugScan can conduct a quick scan, which looks for the files in
their exact locations, or a full scan, which looks everywhere for
them.
Burn 2.5
Files deleted by the Macintosh through the trash can are easily
recovered using most disk utilities, including Norton and
MacTools. Burn securely erases data in sensitive files by
overwritting the data one or more times before the file is deleted.
When combined with encryption such as that provided by Enigma a
user of Burn can keep their system's sensitve data completely
secure.
Control Commander
Control Commander is designed to make using Control Panels
easier. It creates a clickable list of everything that you can do with
Control Panels on your Mac. A pop-up menu lets you limit the list
to categories like Text, Networks, and Sounds, so that you can click
on the list and go right to the Control Panel you need. You can also
use Control Commander to create semiautomated files which
describe the Control Panel settings needed for different purposes.
DragPeek 1.0
DragPeek lets you view the contents of image files as you drag
them around your desktop. Simply launch DragPeek and drag an
image file over the DragPeek window. DragPeek doesn't even have
to be the current application. If you drop an image file onto DragPeek
it opens a preview window for it. It takes a lot less time to load than
most image viewers.
DragStrip 3.7
DragStrip allows you to launch, find, organize, and access
applications and documents. With this tool you can store and access
information (including pictures, text, and QuickTime movies) via
convenient strips that are similar in appearance and functionality
to the Mac's standard Launcher. DragStrip also supports DragStrip
Additions, which are plug-in modules that add features to the tool.
DragThing 2.6
DragThing is an application dock designed to tidy up your desktop.
You can store applications, documents, folders, disks, servers,
and URLs in docks, and there is a special process dock that shows
running applications. DragThing supports Mac OS 8 contextual
menus. Version 2.6 includes new dock styles and colors,
individually floating docks, and full support for Mac OS 8.5.
DropIcon 2.0
DropIcon is an easy-to-use "drag & drop" utility for adding
custom preview icons to image files, similar to those created by
Adobe Photoshop and other image editors. DropIcon works on a
variety of image formats, and is the perfect addition to anyone's
desktop.
DropImage 1.5
A simple, easy-to-use, drag and drop application for image
viewing and file conversion. It is very helpful for quickly
determining the size and contents of an image file. Offers HTML
generation, conversion to most common file formats (JPEG, PICT,
TIFF, PNG, and others), scaling, zooming, and more.
Extension Overload 3.3
Extension Overload, formerly called Xtension Overload, is a
comprehensive database that reviews 756 extensions and 285
control panels that are commonly found in the Extensions folder
and Control Panel folder in Mac OS's 7 through 8.5. These
extensions and control panels are designed to enhance your use of
the Mac OS, but in some cases they can cause system crashes and
other problems. This database provides you with detailed
information on popular extensions and control panels.
FileBuddy 5.2
File Buddy is a collection of file utilities that lets you make many
changes to a file or application, from altering the file type to
changing the creation date. Version 5.2 has a File Buddy control
panel you can use to define a hot key for the File Buddy Find
window.
FontBuddy 1.2
FontBuddy is a font viewer. It shows all characters of any installed
font. It also gives keystroke(s) to access special characters. It is
easy to use, optimized for screen use, and MacOS 8.6 savvy.
Font Gander Pro 1.6
Font Gander Pro is a utility that allows you to preview font
families onscreen and print them out for reference. Font Gander
Pro also includes the Gander Quill editor--a drawing program that
allows you to view as many as 99 fonts on a single page in a
standard layout. Version 1.6b2 fixes bugs, adds ATM antialiasing
to font previews, and more.
Graphic Converter 3.6
GraphicConverter is an all-purpose image editing program that
opens and saves images in just about any graphics format. The
program includes high-end editing tools for graphic manipulation,
as well as the ability to use Photoshop-compatible plug-ins. This
version supports Mac OS 8.5.1, fixes some bugs, and adds new

iMacolor 1.0
iMacolor is a new control panel document that will change the
Apple menu icon and trash icon with iMac-like icons. It's easy to
use and supports all iMac colors. There are also new iMac CPU
icons enclosed.
iView Multimedia 3.6
More advanced than the Mac's simple scrapbook utility, iView lets
you view and organize all types of images. This graphics utility
can read a host of file formats supported by QuickTime, including
JPEG, GIF, Photoshop, Silicon Graphics, GRIP, QTIF, and PICT
formats. It can display images as icons, as thumbnails, in various
sizes, or as a slide show.
Mac OS Items Manager 1.0
MacOS Items Manager is a friend of Extensions Manager. It allow to
enable/disable contextual menu items, Control Strip Modules and
Fonts, in the same way Extensions Manager does.
MPecker Encoder 1.0
MPecker Encoder is an audio encoder and CD audio extractor rolled
into one. With it, you can encode large AIFF files (sampled at
appropriate frequencies) into smaller MPEG files. The program
also can encode 44.1-kHz PCM files. When recording from a CD,
the encoder first copies the audio data to your hard disk. If there is
not enough space available, it will encode the data bit by bit (this
can, however, result in some noticeable clicks in the audio
signal).
Office 98/FM Pro Importer
The Office 98/FileMaker Pro Importer for Office 98 Macintosh
Edition offers customers new extended functionality within this
award winning productivity suite. The Importer gives customers
an easy way to maximize the potential of their data by adding a new
command directly within existing Microsoft Word 98 and Microsoft
Excel 98 menus.
Pict-to-Icons 3.0
Pict-2-Icons is an application that can make a mosaic of icons out
of PICT files or other types of image files. This is done by cutting
the picture into small 32-by-32-pixel icons. Pict-2-Icons is
especially useful for people who make CD compilations, or
individual developers who distribute their own software, because
graphic art can then be displayed inside a folder opened on the
user's desktop.
Pretty Scroll 2.0
Pretty Scroll is a control panel that animates scrolling. When
scrolling through a document, it is sometimes hard to find the last
point you viewed, especially if it was located near the end of the
document. Pretty Scroll makes it easier. Because the scrolling
process is animated, you can follow the movement and find the last
point easily.
SecretFolder 1.1
OneApp Secret Folder lets you conceal a folder and its contents. It
provides you with an easy and fast way to protect documents and
avoid them being seen, modified, or erased by other users (either
on a network or uninvited!). The program is really simple to use
and can be protected with a password for extra security.
Sherlock Menu 2.1
Sherlock Menu is an extension that lets you access all of the
Sherlock find options by adding a handy shortcut menu to your
current menu. It also allows you to more quickly and conveniently
access the Sherlock application from any running program. In
version 2.1, you no longer have to reboot after editing Sherlock
Menu using Sherlock Menu Control. It now includes an "edit" item
that opens Sherlock Menu Control.
SimpleLauncher 3.5.2
SimpleLauncher allows you to configure your function keys (F1-
F15) so that holding them down for approximately one second will
result in the launching of a selected application. That way you can
have your favorite 15 applications at your fingertips.
SimpleLauncher supports the PowerBook and iMac. It can connect
to or disconnect from Internet, empties the Trash with any
function key or even restart and shut down your computer.
Snapz Pro 2.0.1
Snapz Pro can capture any part of your screen to disk in popular
image file formats. A single, customizable hot key command brings
up the Snapz Pro palette, which allows you to capture, scale, and
dither any portion of your screen. Click the monitor, window, or
menu command, and Snapz Pro crops the screen capture
automatically.
SoundApp PPC 2.6
SoundApp is a utility that can play and convert a wide range of
sound files, including MP3, AIFF, WAV, MOD, MIDI, and many
other formats. Version 2.6 adds support for AudioCatalyst's
variable bit-rate MPEG Layer 3 audio files and the MacAmp file
format; improves AppleScript functionality; enhances the
playlist; and fixes numerous bugs.
Stuffit Expander 5.1.3
Possibly the most essential tool an Internet downloader will ever
have. Just drag-and-drop any compressed file (even ZIP files
from the PC) on Expander’s icon and it is expanded and decoded
exactly where you want it to be. Expander even works with your
browser, expanding files automatically download is complete. The
industry standard and rightfully so.
SuperLock 4 Lite
SuperLock is a security program intended to protect your
Macintosh from casual snoopers, namely by requiring a password
on startup and whenever the program is launched. So that you
know what happened in your absence, SuperLock can maintain an
activity log that notes when it activated, when it quit, and any
unauthorized activity it handled.
Talking Moose 2.0
The talking moose is the ultimate system extension for your Mac:
From time to time, one of two selectable mooses will pop up on
your screen and say something, stupid, witty or utterly useless. It
will keep you company if you have to spend another night in front
